So you have been out and bought an alarm watch. You decided to buy one because of the busy timetable you have. There are plenty of meetings throughout the day and setting your mobile to beep beep at the right moment just doesn?t cut it. You decided a simple to use alarm watch would do the trick. Well that?s ok but what you didn?t realize is that this watch is a lot more expensive than the regular off the shelf variety you have been used to in the past. So you figure you really need to take care of this one. But how do you look after a watch? What do you have to do with it to make sure it lasts a long time? Does it need any maintenance? You never even considered these questions with regards to a watch before did you?
Well first question; is your alarm watch a hand wound watch? If it is-ok then what you need to do with this variety is to firstly wear it for a while and wear it every day for a good period of time. Say two to three weeks. Each day wind it slowly treat it gently don?t over wind it get used to it that is if you want your alarm watch to last. I know it doesn?t make sense but my dad always used to say, ?a watch gets used to how a person treats it?, sounds daft I know but I think he had a point. Practice setting the hands but be gentle don?t treat it roughly remember it?s a delicate piece of kit.
Is your alarm watch an automatic watch? The difference between a hand wound watch and an automatic is simply this. The hand wound watch needs to be wound regularly. The Automatic watch can wind itself up by movement. So in a normal day regular body movement will provide enough energy to fully charge the spring in an automatic watch. Looking after this type of Alarm Watch is much easier as you don?t have to remember to wind it up every day. So there is less likely hood of it suffering abuse.
Personally I like the idea of alarm watches as they are very useful in planning my busy schedule. My problem is I tend to be a bit rough on watches so I don?t want a delicate or very expensive one. I play squash and soccer and get involved physically at work. The greatest tip I can offer you is to tell you that if you are engaging in any type of rough physical activity then take your watch off and put it in a safe place. Watches are delicate and they really need to be looked after if you want them to give you a good time!!!
