Different Types of Pocket Watches
There are many different types of pocket watches and they are usually classified based on the type of display they come with. Pocket watches have been around for very long time, and they are known for their style and their appearance. Pocket watches are also very rare seeing as how many people usually do not wear them. But nevertheless there are still very popular amongst a certain demographic and this demographic is very serious about the type of pocket watches they decide to wear. In this article I’m going to discuss a few different styles of pocket watches.
The first thing you need to know is there are generally only five different types of pocket watches.
The list is very short but there are many different types of designs you can take your vantage of. But to give you a basic overview of the five main types of pocket watches they are the open face pocket watch. This is the pocket watch that many people use because of its look. Then you have the half hunter pocket watch, the full hunter pocket watch, but double hunter pocket watch, and the half double hunter pocket watch. Do not let any of this confusion as it is all very easy to understand and I will give a brief explanation of each.
The open face pocket watch
This is a very common type of watch when it comes to pocket watches, because it is pretty self-explanatory and easy to understand what it does. It has no cover and you are able to see the time without having to remove any type of outer surface. They are very common and you’ll get what you find them in just about any style you want. Sometimes people will not decide to use them only because they proclaim that the face is more susceptible to becoming damaged.
The full hunter pocket watch.
The full hunter pocket watch is the type where you will need to open in outer fixture in order to reap the time anytime you want to use it. The outer casing is very special though and you can have your initials engraved on the outside of it. You can even decide to display a photograph on the outer cover if this is what you want.
The half hunter pocket watch.
This is sort of a combination of the two pocket watches our party mentioned. With this type of pocket watch you still have it covered over the face, but is usually made of crystal or have some type of opening which allows you to see what time it is without having to physically remove the outer fixture.
The double hunter pocket watch.
But double hunter pocket watch is very similar to the full hunter pocket watch. It has a font face which it will need to open every time you want to see what time it is. But the key difference is it also has a protective layer covering the back of it as well. The back lid allows you to see the inner workings of the watch.
But double half hunter pocket watch.
But double half hunter pocket watch is simply a combination of the double hunter and a half hunter. It has a font and back protective lid which is able to open completely. But what separates it from the other styles are watches is that you’re able to see the hands of the watch while at the same time having them be protected from possible damage. This is a very unique style of pocket watch and it also has an antique mystique about it.
This is a basic overview of the different styles of pocket watches there are. But in these modern times they come in many different styles. But the basic types of pocket watches remain the same for the most part.
